Kerri Heiner is such an inspiration! This amazing mum-of-three has lost a whopping 83.1kg by following The Healthy Mummy’s 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge!

“The defining moment for me that made me determined to lose weight was the moment I stood on the scales at my antenatal appointment. I was so deeply embarrassed, and heartbroken at the number that appeared 183kg,” she admits.

“I didn’t even understand how I was alive, let alone pregnant at such a high weight.”

WOW! This mum has lost 83.1kg and dropped six dress sizes! Here’s how she did it...

How Kerri lost 83.1kg in just under TWO years

Amazingly, Kerri was able to turn it around and has been on her journey in just under two years.

“This journey started the day when I walked into the hospital for my antenatal appointment,” she says.

“The moment I stepped on the scale was both embarrassing and gut wrenching, not only because that I now knew my size but also now that a stranger also knew and was writing it on paper. It made it very real.”

“28 years old 183kg and pregnant. A pretty dangerous combination. At that moment my heart sunk, all the thoughts that came flying in. How do I have a baby at this size?

“I have multiple lifelong health issues, most of which would have been avoidable had I not got to such a weight, had I looked after my body better.”

But Kerri says you can’t undo your mistakes, you can only decide not to make them anymore.

“And that’s what I did. On that day almost two years ago I said ‘enough is enough’ and I made small but important changes to my life,” she says.

“Through diet and exercise I have been able to cure and manage all my health issues to a degree that you wouldn’t even know I have them.”

In fact, Kerri says she has been quite strict on her lifestyle choices and what she puts into her body.

“I have managed to cure my high cholesterol, sort out my liver function and have been able to manage osteoarthritis in my knees as well as gallbladder issues without any significant problems or recurring pain,” she says.

“As of today, my blood tests all came back perfect and clear of any issues. I have noticed many changes with my physical appearance and mental health.

“Exercise makes me happy, It starts my days off in such a positive way. I believe it has made me a better mum, giving me energy and motivation to want to do things with my kids.”

What Kerri eats on a typical day

“I have used The Healthy mummy smoothies a lot throughout my journey, It has made it easier to control the amount of calories I’m putting into my body.

“My typical meals are chicken and salad/veg or salmon and salad/veg. I have cut out most red meat and processed foods. I have a bowl of yoghurt and some fresh fruit each day. It helps to keep the sweet cravings away.

“Some of our household’s favourite Healthy mummy recipes are the Devilled Sausages, Weet-Bix slice and the 2 Ingredient Pizza dough has been amazing to make pizzas.”

When it comes to exercise, Kerri is a big fan of The Healthy Mummy workouts, such as Dance Fit with Fi.

“I also use my exercise bike every day, often riding 30km a day. I’ve recently started getting into the Tabata Boxing. It’s a fun workout,” she says.

“I also never thought I would love mountain climbing, but the top of a mountain is a place where I feel completely at peace. I’ve climbed everyone I can within an hour of my house. Multiple times.”

Kerri’s 3 tips for success

1. Always show up. It doesn’t matter how little exercise you do – anything is better than nothing.

2. Be Kind to yourself. Find the positives not the negatives.

3. Forgive yourself. No Journey is without mistakes.

“My advice for someone trying to lose weight is don’t compare yourself to others,” she says.

“What is right for you may not be what everyone else is doing. Most of all, speak to your GP. Look into ensuring you don’t have conditions that may be causing weight gain for you.

“I used to be the mum that sat on the lounge watching Netflix and eating junk food and take out. Now I’m the mum that gets up at 4am to work out, wants to go to the beach, bought a kayak!

“I have found a sense of adventure I didn’t know I had. The world outside is so new to me. I remember that at the beginning I struggled to even cycle for 10 minutes, Now I am exercising for up to 2 hours a day.

“I dreamt of the day I would be under 100kg.I feel like I finally made it. This isn’t the end of my story though. Its only the beginning. I’ve got so much life to catch up on.”
